The tours operate seven days a week for 1 hour 15 minutes each (70 minutes on land and 20 minutes in the Grand Canal Harbor) and there are at least 10 tours in a day. The tours are open from February to November but remains shut in December and January. The tickets are available at the ticket office located at 64-65 Patrick Street near the departure point or at the Dublin Tourism Centre on Suffolk Street or any other Dublin Tourism centre. Children below the age of three are not allowed in the water rides as there are no small size life jackets available. If you make a group booking of 15 or more you can avail of their discount facility. The tour starts at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and brings you all over Dublin city centre before going down to Ringsend where you are given life jackets before plunging into Grand Canal Basin.

You will be taken for a ride around Dublin Bay and the surrounding coastal areas in their specially designed RIB’s (Rigid Inflatable Boats). The highlight of the tour is when the Viking Captain drives the Viking Splash Vehicle into the water of the historic Grand Canal Basin. The captains are well trained to drive and there is no need to fear. The vehicles used were previously used in World War II and could dive into beaches in 15 foot seas. They could carry up to 30 troops or 21/2 tons of cargo and sometimes they were joined together to carry fighter aircrafts safely. Some of them were mounted with machine guns and others were filled with artillery and used as firing platforms in the war.
